Gerard didn't hear, his brain only seeming to be able to register harsh whispers or angry shouts from his father. This may well have been because usually when the olders voice was merely a tired sigh or normal sounding, the words weren't directed at Gerard. He continued to pick up the glass, managing to get mos ofit away.

"I said leave it," he saidbecoming moreirritable by the secon, " i would like to go to sleep and tht involves you shutting the hell up." The fater said.

"I-I-I've n-n-n-n-nearly f-f-fin-n-nished" stuttered Gerard, trying to inish as ickly as possible.

The dad sighed, would this boy ever learn? "i said stop now." The father said advancing on hhis son took a swingat him and felt the pleasant pin that one allways felt after a good hard ounch.

Gerard was nocked sideways and cried out in pain. The left side of his face at irst sung, slowly turning into pain as the mild shock wore off. He scramled backwards, stamering sorrie

The man advanced on the boy gain going for as much pain as he could cause.

Gerard cowered, his whole body shaking "P-P-P-P-Please n-n-n-n-n-no"

The man pulled the childup hearing the satisfiying clinks of the glass as he dragged hihs so through it.

Gerard gave sall cries o pain and struggled desperatly.

The man tookn enjoyment in the boy's screams and egn topunch himrepeatedly.

Gerard sobbed, each blow hurtingmore than the last, he lashed out,managing to catch his fathers cheek.

The man stooped dead and let the boy crash down ontothe glass."What did youjust do?"

Gerard gave s hirt ob as the glass cut at his hands and arms, not deep enoug to endanger his life but deep enough to bleed "I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-II-I-I-I-I-"

"HOW DARE YOU!" The man advanced on theboy and beat him into the fetal position.

Gerard sobbed, bleeidng from cut up arms and hands, a split lip and his nose. His face, arms, chest, stomach, back, legs and hips. He regretted even thinking of trying to ake Mikeys advice.

"I can'tbeliee you would do that," he wass stuck between white hot angerand alittle grudging respect. but mostly anger, so he punched,kickedandbit verything he couldreach.

Gerard sobbed, cying ot with eveyr new blow. He curled up even tighter,starting to cough rom the blood that entered his mouth.

The man wastired and grumpy, he left the child sobbing on the floor and went to bed.

Gerard inished hacking up blood and stayed curled, sobbing onto the loor.

Mikey camehomeandhung uphis coat,he sighed and shook his damphair.

Gerard didn'tlook up, only started to hsake again when he heard a door open and close.

Mikey walkedinto thekitchen tofix himself somefood, andn fell over his brother who was curledupon thfloor. " Oh my god, what the HELL happened?" he yanked off his sghirt and began to mopupthe blood on Gerard's face.

"you meen the samekindof nothing that put big scars on your face?" Mikey sighed bitterly

Gerard whimered, touching the scars slightly. Every time they were mentioned or glanced at he became a little more self concious about them, wanted to hide is his room a little more.
